In many states, the purchase of manufacturing equipment and research instruments is exempt from sales tax. For example, if you are purchasing a camera and lens to inspect items being produced on a manufacturing line, the purchase might be exempt. On the other hand, if the camera and lens will be used to analyze your golf swing, then it is less likely to be exempt. The bottom line is that the exemption may depend on your intended use.

Purchases made for immediate resale are also generally exempt from sales tax.

Regardless of whether we charge you sales tax, you may still owe a use tax to your regional tax authority.
