The Leimac IDDA-KH150RGB LED dome light is 153 mm in diameter, with a bottom aperture of 90 mm.

This innovative LED dome light has red, green, and blue LEDs. The intensity of each color is controlled independently, allowing them to be blended to produce composite colors. Image contrast can be maximized by choosing the ideal illumination color for a each object color. (Remember that like-colors lighten, so a red object will be bright when illuminated with red light, and dark when illuminated with blue light.)

This RGB dome light also enables advanced computational imaging techniques. Capture multiple images using different illumination colors. Then apply mathematical operations to combine these images into a composite that reveals only the interesting features.

LED dome lights are the best solution for minimizing reflections on glossy objects with undulating surfaces. Examples of such objects include glossy plastic films, plastic and metal tubes, and machined metal parts.

For best results, the dome should be mounted as near to the object as possible. The opening at the bottom of the dome must, at a minimum, be larger than the field of view, and more typically 1.5 times the field of view. Larger domes will project light at a lower angle onto the object. This allows for greater variations in the object's surface without producing bright reflections.

The camera view port at the top of the dome may be visible as a shadow on highly-reflective surfaces. (To avoid this, we also offer dome lights having an integrated coaxial light at the view port.)
