Aurora Imaging Library SP7 Released
Aurora Imaging Library (formerly Matrox Imaging Library) is a comprehensive software development kit (SDK) for machine vision. This library powers the capture, manipulation and analysis of both 2D and 3D images.
Important new and powerful capabilities are available in Release 10 Service Pack 7. Here's a brief recap of the new features.
OCR using Deep Learning AI
- Reads text without needing to specify or teach a font
- Supports Latin-based characters, digits, punctuation marks and certain symbols
- Handles dot-formed or solid text that is printed, engraved or embossed
- Offers string models and constraints for greater robustness and relevance
Anomaly Detection using Deep Learning
- Detects differences from normal references
- Training done using only normal references – No labeling or annotations required
- Indicates when anomalies are found and optionally where they are coarsely located
- Score threshold setting is available to control detection sensitivity
3D Measurement on Profiles
- Finds transitions in profiles extracted from depth maps
- Profiles can be in each row, arbitrary or perpendicular to a specified template
- Fits geometries to profiles from a template
- Provides numerous controls over profile extraction and transition computation
- Returns a rich number of details on transitions, profiles and fitted geometries
3D Surface Matcher Improvements
- Can now make use of surface color to discriminate between like occurrences
- Supports removing the floor to improve speed and enhance robustness
- Prior search results can be reused to speed-up subsequent matching operation
Additional 3D Processing Functionality
- Stitching of depth maps and organized point clouds
- Profile extraction along a slice in a depth map using thickness and sampling distance

With the above enhancements, Aurora Imaging Library enables developers to apply image classification, image segmentation, object detection and anomaly detection to solve their most challenging projects.
