This lens assembly uses the Scheimpflug principal to keep a tilted object plane in sharp focus.
In normal imaging setups, a lens's depth of field will be parallel to the camera's image sensor. But what if the camera has to be tilted relative to the object being imaged? A large tilt may be needed due to mechanical space constraints, or the need to perform 3D laser triangulation. In such instances, it may be impossible to keep both near and far areas of the tilted plane in focus. Or, even if they can be kept in focus using a small lens aperture, an excessive amount of light is required.
The Opto-Engineering MCSM1-01X Scheimpflug macro lens is the solution. It is compatible with nearly any C-mount camera having a sensor up to 2/3 format. For the best depth of field, adjust the lens angle so that the image plane, lens plane, and object plane all intersect ("hinge") on the same line. The depth of field "zone" will be shaped like a wedge.
Please see the Technology section below for further information.
We suggest mounting this lens assembly, rather than your camera, to the mechanical frame.
