This 1" diameter, 12" long aluminum post is often used for mounting cameras and other accessories.
This post is tapped with 1/4-20 threads on both ends, so they can be threaded into an imperial breadboard. While aluminum posts have a little flex, they keep weight and cost to a minimum.
