We searched the world over for the best image processing computer. What do we mean by “best?” We wanted it all, including: An industrial design free of moving parts, support for Power-over-Ethernet cameras and USB3 cameras, a CPU that can handle multiple cameras with high frame rates, built-in discrete 24VDC I/O, a PCIe slot for additional cameras or I/O, and a wide temperature range. Of course it had to be price competitive. We were glad to find all of this in the CRNS350. We think you’ll be glad you found it, too.
NO MOVING PARTS
Why should you choose a computer without moving parts? Because it’s the moving parts that fail first. When a cooling fan stops turning, or the hard-disk drive stops spinning, it is sure to be expensive.
It isn’t hard to build a consumer-grade “gaming” computer. But building a fanless system that can handle industrial environments is another matter altogether. The Neousys design puts the CPU right up against the large external heat sink. It can handle 60 degrees C, even with its 3rd generation Ivy Bridge i7 CPU under full load.
HIGH PERFORMANCE
Compare the performance of the i7-3610QE against other fanless embedded computers intended for machine vision. This computer scored 7522 using Passmark Performance Test software on the Windows 7 64-bit OS. That’s 218% to 300% better than top competing models. (See the Resources tab to download a detailed comparison.)
The CRNS350 has five Gigabit Ethernet ports. Four of those ports can deliver Power-over-Ethernet, so cameras and other devices can be powered without pulling additional cables or purchasing external power supplies. To maximize bandwith, each port has an independent Intel I210 controller with dedicated PCIe interface. All ports support jumbo packets to keep CPU interrupts to a minimum. The I210 controller is supported by the Basler Pylon Performance Driver (version 4.1.0 and newer) to further enhance imaging performance.
DISCRETE I/O
The CRNS350 includes built-in discrete I/O for interfacing with PLCs, light controllers, and other devices. The eight 5 - 24 VDC inputs are optically isolated, and can be programmed for polling or change-of-state interupt. There are also eight Power MOSFET magnetically-isolated discrete outputs.
DELIVERY & CUSTOMIZATION
Our standard configuration, appropriate for many projects, usually ships the next business day. It includes four Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) ports, eight discrete inputs, eight discrete outputs, and four megabytes of DDR3 RAM. The 128 gigabyte Solid-State Drive has no moving parts to fail, and enables the system to boot in just seconds. Microsoft Windows 7 Pro for Embedded 64-bit factory installed.
Alternate configurations are available for volume customers. Note we offer a version having eight independent PoE ports.
